We begin with a short interview about your child’s history and goals, a short screening, and a WIST assessment that sets a standardized baseline. You leave with a clear plan, whether or not you decide to enroll.

Every session is one-on-one with a tutor who adjusts in the moment. Nothing is guessed, and nothing advances until a skill is truly mastered. For comprehension that means finding where understanding breaks down and rebuilding from that point.

We reassess with the WIST every six months and report standard scores, percentile ranks, and grade equivalents, the same language used in a formal evaluation. With your permission we share results with your child’s school team.

Families come to us at 244 Brimhall Street, St. Paul, MN 55105, in the Mac-Groveland neighborhood, and at 7815 3rd Street N, Suite 103, Oakdale, MN 55128, minutes from Woodbury, Maplewood, Lake Elmo, Stillwater, and White Bear Lake. Live online sessions over Zoom reach families anywhere in Minnesota. Online sessions become available once a student has completed levels one and two. Sessions are by appointment.

Questions families ask
Reading comprehension help: what parents want to know first
My child can read the words but cannot explain them. Is that something you help with?
Yes. We start with a screening and a WIST assessment to see exactly where the breakdown is, and then build from there one-on-one.
What ages do you work with?
Students can begin as early as kindergarten, and we work with learners all the way through college. We screen young learners to catch difficulties early and tailor instruction at every stage.
How do you track my child’s progress?
We reassess with the WIST every six months, and at the end of each Barton level your child takes a post-test they must pass at 80 percent or higher before moving on. Results come back as standard scores, percentile ranks, and grade equivalents, the same language used in a formal evaluation, so progress is measured, not guessed.
Do you diagnose dyslexia?
We are a structured-literacy remediation center, not a diagnostic clinic. Our screening and WIST assessment pinpoint exact skill gaps, and if a comprehensive evaluation would help, we are glad to point you toward a neuropsychologist.
